About the Treatment
It is recommended to have 3-4 treatments one week apart. This is usually sufficient to have lasting relief. These vary from person to person and you may need further treatments. This is discussed on a weekly basis.
To receive maximum benefit it is recommended to have no other therapies alongside Bowen and within 7 days of each other. Before the first treatment you will need an online consultation (£20) which will take about ½ hour. You will also need to complete an online consultation form prior to this.
All consecutive treatments take 40-45 minutes. The treatments can be done over light clothing but if you prefer skin to skin that is fine too. You will be covered with a towel. A two minute break (or more if needed) between a series of moves is necessary for healing to take place and for the body to respond to the moves in your own space. A very relaxing time for the client.
It is very important to drink lots of plain water before, afterwards and between treatments. During the first consultation you will be given full explanation of the therapy and possible side effects.
Please note: The Bowen technique is not intended as a substitute for medical advice or treatment. If in doubt consult your GP.
History of Bowen Technique
The therapy originated from Australia and was founded by a man called Tom Bowen in the 1900,s. Tom worked at a cement works and he used to help people at work using small and simple moves whenever they were in pain. The results were amazing! Word started to spread and it was not long before he started a full time clinic!
The power of the Gentle Moves
The Bowen Technique is a very gentle and relaxing ‘hands on’ treatment. The gentle moves are also very powerful. The therapist uses thumbs and fingers to make a series of precise rolling type moves over muscle and soft tissue.
There is no massage or use of oils and no hard manipulation. The technique cannot be compared to any other form of therapy.
How could the Bowen Technique help me?
The treatment aims to balance and realign the body and not just treat the symptom.
Bowen is safe for all including new born babies, children, elderly and pregnant ladies. Many people have been helped with their back, neck, shoulder pain, knee problems, sports injuries, respiratory problems and many, more! Many people use Bowen as a form of stress relief and health maintenance.
